Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of Tanzania’s trunk and regional road network. The agency is committed to improving the country’s infrastructure and conducting axle load control operations through weighbridge scales. The Regional Manager of TANROADS Kagera is looking for qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacancies in the Upgrading Kyerwa—Omurushaka Road (50KM) to Bitumen Standard Project, under a Design and Build contract.

Job type: Full-time

  1. Highway Engineer – 1 Position
    • Entry Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
      • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer.
      • At least 7 years of relevant work experience, including involvement in at least 3 similar projects as a Highway Engineer.
      • Tanzanian citizenship.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Supervise contractors at the site and oversee force account operations.
      • Manage project work plans and ensure quality control.
      • Oversee project contracts and process contractor invoices.
      • Monitor environmental and social impact mitigation measures in consultation with the Environmental Specialist.
      • Prepare and attend regular site meetings, maintaining minutes and documentation.
  2. Works Inspector – Drainage/Structures – 1 Position
    • Entry Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
      • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer.
      • At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Review structural drawings and reports for compliance with standards.
      • Inspect and approve materials and works for adherence to technical specifications.
      • Prepare daily progress reports and maintain a site diary.
      • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  3. Works Inspector – Road Works – 1 Position
    • Entry Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
      • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer.
      • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Inspect roadworks for compliance with technical specifications.
      • Oversee QA/QC procedures and respond to contractor inspection requests.
      • Ensure site health and safety standards are maintained.
      • Maintain daily records of contractor activities.
      • Submit progress reports and address non-conforming works.
  4. Material Technician – 1 Position
    • Entry Qualifications:
      • Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
      • At least 3 years of experience working in a soil/materials laboratory.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Monitor laboratory activities and ensure adherence to specifications.
      • Implement QA/QC procedures and test materials for compliance.
      • Organize and label approved material samples, ensuring conformity with specifications.
      • Maintain inventory records and prepare daily progress reports.
  5. Office Management Secretary – 1 Position
    • Entry Qualifications:
      • Certificate or Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent from a recognized institution.
      • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
    • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Maintain the office diary and manage correspondence.
      • Attend to visitors and manage phone calls.
      • Take minutes during meetings and perform other office duties as required.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Tanzanian citizenship is required for all positions.

Terms of Service:

  • Specified contract for 1 year.
