MULTIMEDIA OFFICER
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.
APHRC seeks to engage a Multimedia Officer to design an interactive and visually appealing version of the good grants management courses in English and French on its Moodle Virtual Academy Platform.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Design interactive self-paced courses within the Moodle environment using authoring tools such as Isprings, Articulate 360 among others.
· Effectively translate the virtual academy courses into visuals for improved online learning. The design should include text on screen, voiceovers, photos, simple motion graphics, icons and clip-arts, 2D animations, and the use of animated characters.
· Conduct a dry run for the courses to test functionality.
· Produce multimedia content in various formats, including, but not limited to: videos, online photo galleries, photo exhibits, webcasts, infographics, slide shows and PowerPoints.
· Assist in the production of webinars, and other audiovisual content for knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives.
· Create visually compelling designs for digital and print media.
· Manage video pre and post-production, scripting, camera work, webcasts, and photography.
· Follow APHRC’s branding standards when designing the virtual courses.
· Provide general administrative support to communications activities as needed
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field.
· At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role in an international development organization.
· Proven graphic design experience using software applications such as Adobe Design Premium, Harmony Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Adobe Animate, 2D animations, and Photoshop.
· Proven working experience with using Learning Management Systems including Moodle or Blackboard.
· Demonstrated understanding of tools such as HTML5 Package (H5P), lessons, Scorms and books among others.
· Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design projects and styles.
· Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
· Knowledge of web design principles, and experience designing for digital platforms.
· Ability to present concepts verbally.
· Experience in graphic design and audio-visual production is an added advantage.
· Ability to work with a team methodically, meet deadlines, and incorporate changes swiftly.
