Introduction

Dar es Salaam Tumaini University (DarTU), formerly known as TUDARCo, is undergoing strategic reengineering and rebranding to align with the digital economy, the 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), and curricular reforms resulting from the revised National Education and Training Policy (2014) (2023 Edition).

As part of this transformation, DarTU is strengthening its Library Department to meet the growing needs of the university. In this context, DarTU seeks to hire qualified, vibrant, and morally sound individuals to fill the following vacant positions.

 

Library Assistant I (1 Position)Qualifications:

• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Studies or an equivalent qualification from a higher learning institution recognized by TCU.
• Must have at least three (3) years of relevant working experience.
• Information Technology skills will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Revise and update Library Policies and Regulations to reflect current practices and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
2. Create and draft original catalog entries, perform reference work, and manage collection development to maintain an organized and accessible library system.
3. Perform routine professional and supervisory duties.
4. Administer library records, references, and bibliographical services.
5. Manage acquisition, organization, and classification of books.
6. Assist Heads of Sections in ensuring smooth library operations and information services.
7. Ensure proper maintenance of tools, machines, and equipment for service facilitation.
8. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Remuneration

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to successful candidates, commensurate with their qualifications and experience.
