As a Relief Safari Guide your role is vital in perpetuating our company aims, goals and objectives.
This Job Description is your guide to achieving these objectives by outlining your daily duties & responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Guiding and Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional safari experiences tailored to guest preferences, always ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Provide in-depth information about wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation efforts, fostering an appreciation of nature among guests.
- Engage guests with a positive and professional attitude, creating memorable and educational experiences.
- Anticipate and address guest needs, preferences, and concerns promptly and efficiently.
Wildlife and Wilderness Knowledge
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the wildlife, flora, fauna, and geographical features of iconic regions such as Serengeti, Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro and any other park in southern Tanzania.
- Stay updated on current conservation efforts and share relevant insights with guests.
Driving and Vehicle Management
- Safely operate safari vehicles in diverse terrain while adhering to traffic and company regulations.
- Conduct pre-safari vehicle checks to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Report and document any mechanical issues or damages to management promptly.
Professional Conduct and Presentation
- Always maintain a high standard of personal grooming and presentation.
- Uphold a positive self-image that reflects Asilia’s values and ethos.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a supportive and efficient team environment.
Emergency Preparedness and First Aid
- Be trained and certified in basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Act swiftly and appropriately during medical emergencies or safety incidents in remote wilderness areas.
- Ensure guest safety and provide clear instructions in case of emergencies, such as animal encounters or vehicle breakdowns.
Cultural and Community Engagement
- Educate guests about the local communities, cultures, and traditions of the areas visited.
- Serve as an ambassador for Asilia’s positive impact initiatives, promoting respectful and meaningful cultural exchanges.
Environmental Conservation and Awareness
- Actively promote and practice eco-friendly and sustainable safari practices, such as minimizing waste and respecting wildlife.
- Participate in Asilia’s conservation projects and educate guests on the importance of preserving the ecosystems they explore
Working as a relief guide
- The role is based in Arusha
- The relief safari operations guide will drive the vehicle that is available, based on operational needs.
- No specific vehicle will be assigned to this role
- If a specific language is requested, a guide may be assigned to that safari.
- When necessary, a guide may assist with guiding duties within the camp.
- When necessary, a guide may assist with transfers.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years as a professional safari guide, with a proven track record of guiding in Tanzania’s top wilderness areas, including Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Manyara, and any other park in southern Tanzania.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluent in English and at least one other Foreign language such as German(most preferred), French, Spanish(most preferred), Chinese, Portuguese, or other foreign language.
Driving Skills:
- Possession of a valid Class C driving license with strong off-road driving capabilities.
Personality and Interpersonal Skills:
- Outgoing, enthusiastic, and approachable personality with a strong ability to connect with guests.
Teamwork:
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with peers and contribute to a cohesive team environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of wildlife and ecosystems, coupled with exceptional guiding and storytelling abilities.
Professionalism:
- Presentable appearance and strong self-image aligned with Asilia’s brand and values.
