Job Description – General Manager
The role of the General Manager presents a dynamic leadership opportunity for an experienced professional eager to engage with leader’s community in Tanzania. The General Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing the overall management, operations, and strategic planning of the Chamber. Key areas of focus include event planning, membership development, sponsorship acquisition, and business services. Additionally, the General Manager will cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships across the public, private, and non-profit sectors in Tanzania, including Zanzibar, as well as in France.
Roles & Responsibilities
General Management
- Provide leadership in the development of programs, organizational strategies, and financial plans in collaboration with the Chairman / Directors, and Board of Founding Members.
- Recruit and supervise staff and interns – establish work plans, define short- and long- term goals, and oversee project execution.
- Develop and manage the Chamber’s annual budget.
- Report directly to the Board of Founding Members.
- Share a monthly reporting to the directors including, financial statement, KPI, P&L, bank position, number of member.
- Act as the primary liaison for board committees, sectoral committees, and working groups (e.g., Transport Task Force).
- Represent the Chamber within CCI France International (CCI FI) and ensure continuous communication with the CCI FI network.
Membership Development
- Oversee all aspects of membership management, including identification, recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
- Work closely with the Board to evaluate membership strategies, analyze trends, and set objectives.
Business Support Services
- Direct and coordinate service contracts, project timelines, and deliverables.
- Oversee and enhance the company’s communication efforts.
- Manage partnerships with French institutions and organizations to support French businesses entering the Tanzanian market.
- Promote Tanzania as an investment destination through in-person and virtual events.
- Design and organize prospecting missions for potential investors in Tanzania
Event Management
- Serve as the executive-level point of contact for major event partners, including sponsors, venues, vendors, and speakers.
- Secure keynote speakers and coordinate the annual event calendar (networking events, webinars, panels, roundtables, committee meetings, etc.).
- Plan, budget, and execute events efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, international affairs, or a related field.
- Proven professional experience in business, marketing, or non-profit management with responsibilities in staff supervision, budgeting, and project management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French. Swahili is a plus.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian and French business cultures and practices.
- Experience in managing social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
- Willingness to attend events outside regular business hours.
