    JOB PURPOSE

    • Analyze risk in insurance proposals and determine policy terms by calculating premiums on the basis of actuarial, statistical and background information to determine if it's profitable for the insurance company to take a chance on providing insurance.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure end to end underwriting processes are adhered to through systems, procedures, policies and standards applicable to underwriting and claims operation.
    • Prepare quotations in a timely manner to assist in business acquisition through customer satisfaction.
    • • Ensure policy documents are issued within the set turnaround times and ensure confirmation of receipt of such documents and endorsements have been done to ensure that the client understands what has been covered, the benefits and the procedure of claiming.
    • Maintaining effective business relationships to ensure retention of current company clients, client referrals and cross selling by having a responsive and robust customer service and culture.
    • Respond to customer's queries and complaints to ensure timely response to customer's needs.
    • Issuing renewal documents and endorsements one month prior to renewal date to ensure clients are notified of their lapsing policies for timely renewals.
    • Preparation of renewal debits.
    • Dealing with correspondence in accordance with the mail handling procedures on issues of underwriting for future reference purposes.
    • Arranging for on time issuance of certificates or any underwriting documents that the clients may request to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure all business has been updated in the birthmark system.
    • Recording client policy data on the Birthmark system, preparation of renewal debits and accurate allocation of client premium.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science / Business / Insurance or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Diploma in Insurance, Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum of two years relevant experience.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Technical Competencies: Ms Packages, Knowledge of relevant Legislations, Ability to gather market intelligence.
    • Behavioral Competencies: Analytical skills, Communication skills, Negotiation skills, Excellent customer service, Conflict management.
