Reporting to: Community superintendent  

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee initiation and the implementation of CDC projects and coordinate the handover process.
  • Supervise the implementation of Alternative Livelihood programs. 
  •  Develop, maintain, and update the Local Employment Plan according to Barrick CR Standard.
  • Supervise projects, grievance and engagement related to mine operations as per Barrick’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating internal and external grievance mechanism awareness 
  • Develop, maintain, and update the Stakeholder Engagement Plan 
  • Identify business-related community issues, determine, and evaluate alternative courses of action to resolve or mitigate such issues and problems.
  • Coordinate activities such as community engagement, mediation, and consensus problem-solving; facilitate neighbour-to-neighbour or one-to-one communications/interactions.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve any vital business relationships with stakeholders for success of the community projects
  • Establish and manage relations with independent contractors, vendors to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Supervise payment for community projects including review of the document submitted to BGML for service providers payments.
  • Develop and implement community project monitoring tools and review as appropriate to meet the projects requirements.
  • Evaluate project report and recommend to identified issues and opportunities to improve performance going forward.
  • Ensure proper handover of all completed community projects.
  • Ensure SML inspection conducted on weekly basis to control illegal mining within the company property  

   QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:     

  • Bachelor’s degree in social Economic studies/Community Relations Projects Management   or a related field.
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license and the ability to drive manual vehicles (Mandatory).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in Community development Projects management role in a mining or related environment
  • Must have 2-5 years of driving experience with no accident records (Manual Vehicle Driving) and be willing to undergo a driving test to demonstrate your skills.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication in English, both writing and verbal
  • Knowledge of grievances or conflict resolution would be an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy, including basic knowledge of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Time management.
  • Documentation and document management.
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Management of construction and Social Economic Projects
  • Reporting and Report Writing.
