Description
- Our Field Officers are on the frontline of KSPCA's work. Every day, our field team responds to welfare cases of all kinds. As the Assistant Field Officer, you will work under the guidance of the Lead Field Officer, assisting in responding to cases of abuse, neglect, and distress. This role involves working in the field, where the tasks can be challenging, messy, and physically demanding-but the impact you make in rescuing and protecting animals is deeply fulfilling. Duties and Responsibilities
- The Assistant Field Officer will be responsible for responding to animal welfare cases, assisting with investigations, and handling animals such as dogs, cats, and horses. You will also engage in community education, raising public awareness about animal welfare. This role includes trapping animals as part of the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and ensuring that all welfare items are ready for use in the field. Additionally, the Assistant Field Officer will support the team with cleaning duties at the shelter when needed and contribute to overall animal care and protection efforts.
Qualifications
- You have experience working with and handling animals and are comfortable doing so. You are hardworking, energetic, self-motivated, teachable, and a team player. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with the public are essential. An animal health or law enforcement background would be an advantage. You must be well- organized and able to pay attention to details, including legal requirements.
Requirements
- You must be proficient in both English and Kiswahili. A valid driver's license and driving experience are preferred. You must also be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Communications Intern
Nairobi based; full-time, 3 month internship
- Our communications department is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual with a passion for animal welfare. If you have a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, IT, or a related field, proficiency in MS Word, are tech-savvy, and quick on your feet, The ideal candidate is innovative, energetic, capable of handling daily fieldwork and editing, skilled in Canva, WordPress, CapCut, or other editing tools, familiar with online tools, and a fast learner. Key responsibilities include website and media updates, sharing newsletters, creating visual content and contributing to internal and external communications reports.
- We would like to offer a learning opportunity to join the team as an intern. Our interns work alongside staff to help with the workload and gather experience of diverse elements of working life from communications tasks to learning about animal welfare.
- If you are our ideal candidate, you will be someone who really wants to learn. You don't need have prior experience in the field but you do need to be comfortable with animals and people. You must be enthusiastic about our work and be a good communicator.

Events Intern
Nairobi based; full-time, 3 month internship
- Our events department is seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual with a passion for animal welfare and event coordination. If you have a bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, or a related field, are detail- oriented, proactive, and able to multitask, this opportunity is for you.
- The ideal candidate is energetic, a fast learner, skilled in planning and logistics, comfortable using Canva and social media platforms, and has excellent communication skills.
- Key responsibilities include assisting with event planning and execution, coordinating volunteers, promoting events online and offline, and supporting fundraising initiatives.
- We would like to offer a learning opportunity to join the team as an intern. Our interns work alongside staff to help with the workload and gain hands-on experience in event planning, from logistics to community engagement.

Legal Intern
Nairobi, full-time, 3 month internship.
- Our work to respond to reports of emergencies, cruelty and abuse is at the heart of our mission. We receive thousands of calls for assistance every year, Each of these cases must be recorded, investigated and documented. Many of these cases are criminal. The process to investigate, report and prosecute criminal cases requires robust systems and attention to detail.
- We need an intern with a background in the law or a related skill set to help us set up and manage a case management system that will make it easier for the team to follow up on cases while other emergencies are demanding their attention.
- If you are interested, you must be able to show us that you are a well-organised person who can create and maintain case files. You will need to be aware of legal basics and pay close attention to detail. You'll be comfortable with paperwork and computer applications.
- In return, we offer a stipend to cover your expenses and a great opportunity to learn more about the work of the KSPCA and animal welfare law in Kenya.
