Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as a healthcare social enterprise through development programs in the community, particularly for the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral center for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the Dar es Salaam region and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

To strengthen the nursing department, CCBRT is looking for dynamic and experienced Assistant Nursing Officers (Health Volunteers) to provide clinical nursing care at CCBRT in respective allocated areas (OPD, IPD, or OTD).

The Role:

  • Provide nursing care as per quality, safety regulations, and standards, including maintaining patient dignity at all times.
  • Ensure all necessary preparations of the patient are done before the patient sees the doctor or goes to consulting rooms/theater.
  • Assist doctors during patient examinations and/or surgeries.
  • Translate information from the patient to the doctor from Kiswahili to English and vice versa in case of a language barrier.
  • Communicate sensitive information concerning the patient’s medical condition/counseling patients.
  • Perform clinical procedures.
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping on all activities and control patient flow in the clinical area.

The Candidate:

  • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Must be registered and have a valid license from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Experience in reproductive and child healthcare, neonatal care, and critical care is an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Flexible, multitasking, proactive, and eager to learn.
