- Our client, an asset tracking and management company, seeks to recruit a General Manager to help spearhead the design and implementation of company strategy, operational management, business plan and sales strategy. She/he will also be responsible for the company’s budget and implement cost containment measures.
Reports to: GMD/DGMD
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Responsible and accountable for the financial performance of the organization
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding budgetary and agreed performance targets
- Develop improvement actions, and carry out cost savings while guarding costs & expenditure
- Together with the financial accountant prepare a monthly financial report.
Planning & Organizing
- Responsible for ensuring the organization’s budgets are aligned to the Group’s strategic direction and that the contractual obligations are met on time and on Budget.
- Ensures administrative requirements are adhered to and reports are submitted on time.
Sales & Business Development
- Drive the organizations business strategy and play an active role in acquiring new strategic customers.
- Identifies opportunities for business from new and existing customers and converts to sales
- Sells new or existing products into new or existing markets
- Works out strategies to win customers from competition by scouting the market for competitive products and ensuring the organization out-competes its peers in the market
- Delivers company strategic objective by influencing customer behavior through communication and direct engagement
Market Research
- Makes use of insights from market research to inform business development strategy and direction and strengthen the decision-making process.
- Keeps abreast of market and industry trends
- Work closely with the marketing team, conduct periodic research on market trends with comparative analysis to current product and service being offered.
Account Management
- Carries out post-sales engagement: visits customers to discuss how to improve services
- Understand what the competition is doing in terms of positioning, customer experience, pricing, alliances, credibility, etc.
- Receives feedback from customers for improvement of products and services
HR Functions
Working closely with Group HRM, to manage and oversee the human resource function for the company in the following ways:
- Managing staff motivation and morale at all times.
- Supervising all the staff through their departmental heads in ensuring that work is done satisfactorily, and timelines/deadlines are adhered to.
- Harmonious communication between the staff and management on fundamental issues that need to be brought to their attention. The above should be communicated immediately.

- Full Implementation of the company strategy, business plan and sales strategy.
- Full implementation of the budget provisions cost containment initiatives.
- Business profitability, business growth through achieved targets and increased market share.
- Highly productive and motivated teams. Staff retention.
- Full business compliance
- Timely submission of daily, weekly & Monthly reports.
Qualifications & Skills
- A University degree from an institution with a Degree in Business Administration, Marketing Option, or an MBA will be an added advantage.
- Experience of 8+ years in this related field (Asset Tracking and/or Fleet Management) environment.
- Must have Business development, sales, or marketing experience.
- Networking, persuasion, prospecting & closing skills.
- Identification of customer needs and challenges,
- Territory management & market knowledge.
- High level communication skills & team orientated.
- Results drive with self-motivation & passion for quality.
- An understanding of blockchain technology and web3 business models will be an added advantage
