SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002 and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brand portfolios include Guinness and Plisner.  Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey’s Irish Cream ®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey® and Gilbeys Gin®.

Purpose of role

This sales operations role is a key player in the spirits commercial team, playing a crucial central role in supporting the effectiveness of Serengeti Breweries. The position focuses on ensuring that Commercial Performance Reporting and routines are effectively implemented, while driving alignment with Diageo’s World-Class Selling principles and the Code of Business Conduct across the division and distributorships.

 

Top Accountabilities

Sales Planning & Performance Management:

  • Accurately plan sales targets and supply forecasting to align with business goals and unlock capacity for growth.
  • Create weekly and monthly gap analysis to guide commercial teams towards achieving satisfactory outcomes.
  • Develop and manage performance dashboards, reporting on daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs as per divisional needs.
  • Identify performance trends, assess progress against targets, and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insights generation and support the divisional distributor super user network for enhanced performance.
  • Analyze large datasets to derive clear findings and actionable recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Optimizing Systems and Tools for Trade Execution:

  • Drive the efficient usage of trade systems and tools (EDGE 365 DMS, Trax, CPM/CPD, Diageo One, Party Central) to simplify trade execution.
  • Ensure that distributors effectively use the DMS tool to manage their businesses efficiently and resolve any system-related issues.
  • Support the sales team in generating insights and effectively using systems to drive business outcomes.
  • Propose new system requirements to meet current and future business needs, ensuring that tools evolve with the commercial landscape.
  • Manage fleet operations in accordance with the vehicle policy, ensuring cars are in good condition and within budget.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of POs in Coupa, ensuring smooth and timely processing.

Commercial Strategy & Risk Management:

  • Support overall trade strategy development and collaborate with commercial teams to accelerate performance.
  • Help develop reward schemes to motivate the team and drive growth through a positive outlook.
  • Act as the point of contact for risks and controls, ensuring effective stock reconciliations and data integrity in all systems.
  • Maintain and manage records storage, providing relevant policy, procedures, and advice to employees.
  • Oversee the retention and disposal of records as per legal and tax requirements, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Activity Management & Collaboration:
  • Ensure that all trade marketing activities (BTL) are aligned with business objectives and implemented effectively.
  • Manage budgets and BTL assets efficiently, ensuring resources are utilized to maximize impact.
  • Provide regular performance reports to stakeholders, including National Trade Marketing Manager, Customer Service, and Marketing teams.
  • Coordinate national marketing and promotional programs to achieve optimal in-store visibility and sales performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, fostering teamwork and ensuring alignment across commercial, marketing, and sales teams.

 

Required qualification and experience

  • A business-related degree or equivalent ·
  • Advanced MS Excel and MS SQL skills
  • Experience- at least 5 years’ experience in analytics or sales role
